I recently heard this from a human resources department.
The result? I’m going into business for myself.
Because while HR is still stuck in age-based stereotypes, Europe is currently in the midst of a major upheaval—and hardly anyone combines deep technological expertise with genuine experience in transformation:
🔹 European sovereignty as a fig leaf: We celebrate European AI models like Mistral. But anyone who wants to build agent systems soon realizes: The integration layer (MCP connectors, storage, workflows) is a pure U.S. monopoly. We’re subsidizing factories for which there are no buyers (ASML sales in Europe: 0%), while we’re completely left out in the cold when it comes to interoperable software infrastructure.
🔹 Emerging swarm risks: AI agents have long been operating autonomously in networks. They develop their own communication patterns, coordinate via protocols like MCP, and create systemic risks (collusion, memory poisoning, prompt injection). And what is Brussels doing? The AI Act regulates static components, while obligations for high-risk systems are being deferred.
🔹 Security culture with blinders: The CISPA audit report, of all things, highlights the dilemma: Data outflows cannot even be reconstructed because basic logging is missing. Anyone who runs agents without cryptographic provenance and zero-trust governance is building uncontrollable black boxes.
🔹 Educational Vacuum: You’ll search in vain for practical Agentic Security on mainstream platforms. You have to wade through primary research, SANS curricula, and frameworks like OWASP and MITRE ATLAS just to begin to understand the governance of autonomous systems.
That’s exactly what I do. Not despite my experience, but because of it.
Any intern can prompt models these days. But integrating autonomous multi-agent systems into established organizations in a legally compliant, tamper-resistant, and strategic manner? That requires governance, systems thinking, and change management.
That’s why I’m stepping in as a Fractional Chief Transformation Officer for autonomous systems and AI governance.
